Jussie Smollett has successfully completed a 5-month rehab program and is preparing to release a new film.
According to TMZ, the ‘Empire‘ alum enrolled himself in a substance abuse outpatient program. He completed all of the requirements earlier this month.
A source told the publication Smollett fully committed to the treatment by focusing on his physical and mental health.
Despite his legal woes, his career has taken a turn for the better. TMZ’s sources say Jussie’s management is prepping for the release of a new film, in addition to other projects.
His reputation was tarnished after alleging that two men wearing masks attacked him, PBS reports. The actor said they shouted homophobic and racist slurs before tying the noose to his neck. He paid two brothers whom he had met on the set of “Empire” to stage the event. PBS reported that he instructed the men to shout “MAGA Country” in reference to former president Donald Trump’s campaign slogan.
