Jordin, Sparks, and her 34-year-old daughter could be the next judge of American Idol if they have their way! The singer, who was 17 when she won the show in 2007, shared a tweet revealing that she is interested in the job after current judge Katy Perry revealed she will be leaving the show following the 22nd season. “Oh hi @AmericanIdol–I hear a seat opened up at the judge’s table! She wrote, “I’m putting myself in the hat!” along with an emoji of a raised hand. Soon afterward, Jordin’s followers responded with their opinions. One follower commented, “This would amazing!” Another wrote, “That’d be iconic!” And a third said, “That’d be epic!” and a fourth exclaimed, This is what we would like to see! Jordin’s latest message comes after Katy shocked American Idol viewers when she announced she was leaving the show after seven seasons.
“This fall, in September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio, it’s really exciting, it’s a big deal for people all over the world, especially for my Brazilian fans. I think this will probably be my last show, my last season for February 16, 2024 Idol,” Katy said during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. “I love Idol so much, it’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my beat, you know what I’m saying, Jimmy?“ Katy first joined American Idol for season 16 in 2018. She currently works alongside fellow judges and Luke Brian. Season 22 will premiere on 18th February. She has also maintained a successful music career. She’s released four studio albums with some of her bestselling songs, including “No Air,” “Tattoo,” and “Battlefield.“
