Dave Chappelle has weighed in on Katt Williams’ controversial appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, during a performance at the Hollywood Improv on Friday, January 19. The Dreamer comedian 50 brought up the interview while performing at DeRay Davies’ comedy program, where he called Katt, 52 for the “wild interview“. He said, “Katt will kill us all” on stage before addressing DeRay. “Marlon called me to tell me that you said ‘What Katt has done is good for comedy. No, it’s not.“
During Katt’s Club Shay Shay interview he called many comics out, including Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, and Cedric The Entertainer. The interview was a hit and generated a lot of reaction from the entire comedy community. Dave stated in a video that was posted on. “Katt’s one of the most talented painters on the planet. Why do you draw ugly pictures of us, then? “Stop.” While Dave explained he “f**ks with Katt” hard, he explained further why he took offense with the American Hustle comic’s interview. He said, “Hurt people harm people. But I am a person who never hurts people and he does this all the time.” “If I told you my story, your heart would be broken.” I lost everything, and never ever told on anybody.” Even though Dave admitted that he felt like some of the things that Katt said in the interview were “true,” he still felt like the way that he went about it was wrong. “What part of this game is it that messes up the paper of another n***a?” He said. “That’s true, but what made you say it? We are all trying to improve our situation. “Can we get past it?“
Dave wasn’t the only comic to criticize Katt after the controversial interview. Kevin responded to the comedian’s insult on X, formerly Twitter, in early January. Marlon Wayans also mentioned Katt’s remarks briefly when he was talking about the backlash he received for wearing a white dress in White Chick in a Big Boy Neighborhood interview. “Black people, as soon as we wear a dress, it’s time to tear each other down.“
