Just one day after Cassie filed a bombshell sexual assault, abuse, and trafficking lawsuit against Diddy, they decided to settle.
According to the NY Times, Cassie and Diddy announced the settlement on the evening of Friday (Nov. 17). The “Official Singer’ singer filed a lawsuit in New York on Thursday, under the temporary ‘Adult Survivors Act’ that expires on November 23. Cassie claimed that Diddy abused her physically during their 10+ year relationship. Staff witnessed the abuse. She also accused him of forcing her to perform sexual acts with male sex workers across state lines while he allegedly watched, made demands, recorded, and self-pleasured.

Cassie And Diddy Release Statements After Settlement
Amid news of settling the lawsuit, Cassie and Diddy released statements via the NY Times.
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control,” Cassie told the NY Times in a statement. “I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.“
Diddy told the outlet via statement:
“We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie’s family the best. Love.“
In an additional statement to The Shade Room, the producer’s lawyer stated the following:
“Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing. He is happy they reached a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.” He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.“
It’s unclear how much the former pair settled the lawsuit for.
However, after denying Cassie’s lawsuit allegations, a lawyer for Diddy accused Cassie of wanting a “payday.”
Mr. Ben Brafman, Diddy’s attorney, said that Combs “vehemently denied these offensive and outrageous accusations.” “For the past 6 months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail.“
Meanwhile, her lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, said that Diddy had previously offered Cassie eight figures to silence her and prevent the filing of” her lawsuit. However, she had rejected his efforts.
Parties Reached Settlement Following Trending Videos Of Past Interactions
Hours before the parties reached their settlement, social media users looked closely at past content featuring Diddy and Cassie.
Diddy’s 2022 BET Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech came into focus. Cassie had mentioned the speech in her lawsuit, saying Diddy thanked her for holding him down in “dark times” when he was the one holding her down — in a negative way.
She described the “dark times” as those she spent trapped by Mr. Combs in a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking,” per the filing. Another video that came into trending focus early Friday was an excerpt of a red-carpet interview with the entertainers. Cassie was asked by a Vogue reporter at the Met Gala in 2018 if she had made any confessions. She responded that she keeps “everything” within herself or between her and Diddy.
A video of the “Me & U” singer embracing husband Alex Fine after he reportedly ran 50 miles to support a domestic violence shelter also got viral attention.
Another resurfaced clip that shook the internet was Yung Joc revealing the moment Diddy allegedly demanded Cassie shave her head — leading to the iconic hairstyle that dominated the early 2010s.
After Cassie filed her lawsuit, several fellow entertainers stepped forward to support her allegations, including Kid Cudi. He reportedly confirmed through a spokesperson that his car exploded in his driveway shortly after alleged threats by Diddy — who was allegedly jealous of Cudi’s brief romance with Cassie.
Three out of five Dainty Kane group members, Aubrey O’Day, D. Woods, and Dawn Richard, also showed their public support for Cassie.
